This Mandela Day join us in person at Ikhaya Le Langa, a safe community space in Langa just 15mins from CT CBD. Together we’ll be making soup from veggies grown locally in Langa – supporting the urban farmers – to share with those in need of a hot, delicious meal on Mandela Day.
Can’t join in person? Zoom in – we’ll be livestreaming all the action, including a how-to-guide on making the soup, so you can follow along and make from home!
By buying a ticket to this event, you will be helping feed and create food sustainability in the community of Langa:
- Soup made will go towards feeding 1500 people from Langa.
- Help set up and maintain 200 household food gardens providing food and income for 200 families.
- Provide seedlings and compost to 150 urban farmers and their families, across 31 food farms.
This event is a collaboration of community organisations across Cape Town. Organising beneficiary partners include Ikhaya Le Langa‘s Black City Farms Project; SA Urban Food & Farming Trust (SAUFFT) – also known as ‘The Langa Agrihub’ established in partnership with the JDC and The Horwitz Family Trust; and Mensch. The event is supported by the Cape SA Jewish Board of Deputies, and the United Jewish Campaign.
HOW DO I GET INVOLVED?
Book and join us on the day or just buy a ticket to support! – the more tickets you buy, the more people we can help feed and provide the tools to feed themselves, well beyond Mandela Day!
