“When the community is in trouble, a person should not say, ‘I will go to
my house and I will eat and drink and be at peace with myself.’”
The funds that you generously contribute to the United Jewish Campaign are allocated to a plethora of organisations to help ensure a strong and vibrant Jewish community.
Advocacy for the Jewish community is just one way in which your contribution impacts Jewish life across the country. The South African Jewish Board of Deputies, for example, is the official liaison between the South African government and the Jewish community and generally advocates on its behalf within the broader South African community.
Some of the most important advocacy work that you are supporting is that which is done for those whose voice would not otherwise be heard. UJC-supported organisations not only care for those who are mentally, physically or otherwise challenged or part of a vulnerable demographic but also lobby on their behalf to ensure that they receive all of the assistance and privileges due them.
